ATHENS PHOTOS

ATHENS

Been a frantic & hectic (they sound like Greek words) couple of days with wallet & phone stolen. I am not in Linda's best books. Sunday was busy busy - 8am getting covid test, passed - yay, we can board the ship. Did a bit of sightseeing, 1896 olympic stadium, the odeon, parliament, where the soldiers in their Greek skirt & pom-pom shoes do their ministry of funny walks, university, embassy quarter. Found a nice cafe/restaurant for Greek tapas where we had lunch & because it was so good,   followed up with evening cocktails & snacks. Linda had a Bombay, tonic & mastic liqueur. Went up on the hotel roof bar for the night view of the Parthenon. Now sitting in hotel lobby awaiting taxi to port.

ATHENS DAY 2

After the morning's turmoil we had a nice afternoon wandering. We went from the police station to the Covid antigen test place then to a nice shady walk in the National Park, on the a street cafe looking up to the Acropolis which had caged finches singing beautifully. Now chilling in our air-con room with complimentary wine - lovely.

FROM BAD TO WORSE

Arrived here nicely, but the following day. Started badly with a spell of diarrhoea - not nice, major strain warning in effect, trustworthiness of farts in red warning status. OK, so after a trip to the pharmacy set off for a tube ride up to Syntagma Square for sightseeing. On the way on the crowded tube, got a bit bumped getting off - result wallet gone, no Euros, no credit cards, driving licence the lot. So after the morning & the part of the afternoon cancelling cards & visiting the police station we finally got some sightseeing in. Up on the roof later for cocktails & dinner. Hope my luck improves & I don't fall off.

DOING BETTER NOW

In the pub! Can't find hearing aid batts - what did you to think Linda said?

Dunno, can't hear.

SOME GOOD, SOME BAD

On our way to Athens (we hope) the taxi ride was great, got us through the rail strike turmoil with no problem. At bag drop at the moment, 9:25, but no conveyor belts working at all in Terminal 2. We wait and see.
